Imperial County Right of Way Documents

So I am doing some research in Imperial County and they lack an online management system. Admittedly, I have been spoiled lately by online access.

Any advice on how to obtain record documents efficiently?

I am mainly after road right of way documents. I am curious if I am up against unrecorded ownership/transfer or a lot of prescriptive rights?

Anyone that can shed some light on what is going on down there would be helpful.

On a side note, there are also some interesting things going on with the PLSS down there that I would love to hear some history on the subject.

I had a couple of projects in Imperial County over last few years. My experience is you have to go to the county to research. The person I would contact if he is still there would be George Pacheco, send me an email if you need his contact information. The Imperial Irrigation District is also a resource, but I would start with the county first.

Feel free to call me at my office. (760) 352-2716. I am within walking distance from the County Surveyor's office (noticeably absent would be a County Surveyor). George is THE man when it comes to right-of-way in the Imperial County. However, I have been able to provide unknown documents to him on more than one occasion. I have extensive private archives available that have little treasures waiting to be discovered.

You've got that right. I've conducted a lot of research on the history of surveying down here and hope to provide an article or two once completed. It was a real train wreck back around 1901. Definitely interesting.
