There is a controversy regarding the evidentiary content of maps. The controversy results in inconsistent boundary mapping products. More importantly, the controversy results in obscured boundary evidence and ultimately the disruption of repose in boundary locations and unnecessary travails to society at large. The controversy, in part, arises from a disagreement over fundamentals. What are the fundamentals? How are the fundamentals applied? How do the fundamentals shape the content of boundary mapping? The answer to these questions and the tamping down of the controversy can be had by an examination of the following:
• the minimum standard of practice as expressed in state law
• the state board that governs the profession and how it interprets the minimum standard and how that is expressed in disciplinary actions
• the opinion of professional organizations who have expressed an opinion on the evidentiary content of maps
• the opinions expressed in professional journals and commentary of surveyor educators
• the opinions expressed in well known textbooks used to educate land surveyors
The result of this investigation is to introduce new surveyors to the fundamentals and provide a frame work upon which to base a professional opinion and to refresh the memory of long time practitioners and bring these concepts to the front of mind.

Cal Poly Pomona Conference - Preliminary Program
Coordinating between the school and our chapter I received a preliminary program today that I wanted to share. Their is some additional information (e.g. bios) to be collected but I wanted to respond to a few requests for schedule (i.e. hours) and I think this will serve well.
We will be taking registrations up to real close to the conference but to allow us to order the correct amount of lunches for Friday and to allow for the students to spend more time networking and attending seminars instead of creating last-minute name badges we would like to ask everyone to get registered as early as possible.
I'm available by phone or e-mail to take registrations, especially if you are have any questions or issues with multiple persons in your group. We can also accommodate agency or corporate check/PO requirements, even taking payment after ... we don't want to have anyone miss out on this great practice-focused conference because of paper-work. Come support one of the few great surveying programs available for our next generation of land surveyors!

Hi Stan,Stanmyron wrote:Yes, this could be interesting to sit in on. I'm hoping to be able to attend.
Dave Woolley e-mailed me and asked that I offer you a free registration (on-him). He mentions you are a prolific contributor to the forum (i.e. 3/day). I don't have any contact info for you so ... please contact me per the info on the last post and I'll get you signed up and charge Dave.
Take care,
Rich

Exhibitors/Vendors Wanted!
Hey everyone! Your friendly neighborhood Witness/Quarter Corner editor here. I am reaching out to all of you to see if there is any interest among forum-goers to have an exhibit/vendor booth at the OC-CLSA Cal Poly Pomona Joint Conference. Time is short and we need friends to fill up the exhibitor hall! If you are with a company that is looking to hire this would be a great place to start. Also, if your company has something to sell this will be a great place to get some one on one time with California Surveyors. I have attached the application in this post. Hope to see you all there next week!

CPP OC-CLSA Conference Program
I received this updated program. If you have any questions not answered yet, please contact Steve Mendoza or Dave Woolley.
I, Rich Maher, handle registrations. You can use a CC online here.
If you want to do it over the phone, especially for multiple registrations, feel free to call me at work (949) 768-0731 or e-mail as provided in the above link.
If you work for an organization that works with checks only and/or need more time, just contact me for registration and we can work out the payment matters for a later date.
