Psomas, a civil engineering, land surveying and construction management firm, is looking for a talented Sr Survey Technical/Network Specialist
to be a member of our Team. Psomas has offices throughout California, Arizona and Utah.

Location: Oakland, CA, USA
Pay Type: Hourly
Employment Type: Full Time

Description: Survey Application Support is responsible for maintaining survey software/hardware, and the implementation and technical support of Survey Application systems used in the production Land Surveying products and services at our client site. The candidate for this position will perform a wide variety of professional land, surveying system support for both office and field work. Strong communication with all levels of personnel in Survey, other client staff, representatives of government entities and professional computer groups.

Duties: Assist in the implementation, maintenance and technical support of all Survey related data processing systems and Survey Application softwarehardware.

Install and perform complex installation and upgrades of microcomputer systems, peripheral devices, and printers for our clients Survey Application computer operations.

General office duties, including, but is not limited to: answering the phone, relaying messages, ordering supplies, routing accounts payable invoices, arranging repairs and filing.

Manage, create and maintain database to inventory all data processing equipment purchased or assigned to the field.

Maintenance of hardware and software inventories (Microsoft Office products - all versions) Create User Profiles on Windows XP and Window 7 platforms.

Qualifications:

•Must be able to provide procurement recommendations on computer systems and Survey software/hardware
•Must have prior experience with Windows XP and Windows 7 platforms
•Must be be self-reliant, self-guided, able to work independently, able to work productively with variety of field professionals and be able to solve problems creatively
•Must use sound judgment in the use of electronic information systems, system interfacing and system use
•Must work effectively with others and must communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Must have basic knowledge in the following software/hardware:

•Windows XP & Windows 7 platforms
•Microsoft Office products (1997, 2007, & 2010 versions)
•Printer Installations
•Creation of User profiles on a computer (Window XP and Window 7 platforms)
•Understand Networking & ISP • General knowledge of installing basic software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader/Writer, GoogleEarth, WinZip, Irfanview, etc.)
•End-Users' Data backup (Due to Hardware crash, bluescreen of death (BOD), swapping of equipment (New PC or Laptop), etc.
•Survey Applications (Trimble Business Center, StarNet, CAiCE VT, AutoCAD (Civil 3D v.2012), ArcGIS v10.x, Microstation v8i, Trimble Products (S6-Total Station, R8 (model 2 & model 3), R10, DiNi Digital Level (DN-10), TSC2 & TSC3 (Data Collectors) and etc.
Additional knowledge that is a plus:

•Lotus Notes
• Novell/Zenworks
•Creation of Database for Inventory purposes using Microsoft Access/Excel or other notable applications
•VBScripts & Web creation
•DOS-Commands
•Windows Server
•GIS GoogleEarth GoogleMaps
•Network Mapping
