This is a highly technical position supporting Field Surveys at our client site. In this position you will provide responsive high quality courteous service for clients and coworkers, representatives of outside agencies, consultants and contractors, and members of the public.
Duties: Post-process GNSS/IMU data from mobile laser scanning system to produce best estimate vehicle trajectories using Applanix POSPac MMS software.
Performs QA/QC check on the result data to ensure the project accuracy requirements are met. Downloading of GNSS base station data from various public and private GNSS base station networks Uncompressing and converting the base station files to RINEX files.
Perform QA/QC check of point cloud data against local controls.
Utilize a variety of software packages to extract DTM and other survey features and data from point clouds data which includes exporting and importing point cloud and extracted survey data from one software package to another.
Create primitive object surfaces from the point cloud data to support 3D modeling of existing features.
Assemble design models, models of existing features, and lidar data and link these model elements with construction schedules to create project 4D models.
Assist in the development of visualizations and animation such as depicting the temporary traffic routes through constructions zones at various construction stages.
Compare detailed technical data utilizing applicable software, identify differences and prepare animated simulations and concise and accurate technical survey reports and exhibits.
Calculate construction staking layout locations for roadways including utilities and structures from engineering design plans, special provisions and specifications.
Provide accurate and complete up to date information in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years 'experience in the following:
•Must have knowledge of GNSS static survey and post-processing included basic understanding of RINEX data file, GEOID, datum, state plane and UTM coordinate projections
•Must have basic knowledge of point cloud and various point clouds file formats such as LAS and all ASCII formats related to point clouds
•Must have prior experience with methods to produce DTM and survey data from point cloud
•Must have a strong background in computer graphics and data manipulation
•Must have an understanding of photogrammetric calculations
•Must have thorough knowledge of stationary scanning and associated software
•Must have thorough knowledge of TBC, Starnet, and Civil 3D software
•Must have prior experience with highway design and understanding how to create 3D design models of highway corridors and simple highway bridge structure models using applicable software
•Must have prior experience with Navisworks and Primavera or Microsoft projects
•Must have knowledge of geometry and trigonometry, as well as surveying and engineering fundamentals, including terminology
Software knowledge requirements includes:
• Trimble Trident 3D Analysis, Virtual Geomatics software suits, Civil 3D, CAiCE, TopoDOT, Cyclone, Polyworks, and MicroStation.
Additional knowledge that is a plus:
•Knowledge of mobile scanning and associated software
•Familiarity with CAICE and MicroStation
•Knowledge of 3DSMax and/or understanding the advance rendering capabilities of Navisworks
•Knowledge of animation post-processing software like Combustion
