Codes Through Leginfo.com

Has anyone else been having problems with the keyword search at leginfo? Over the past 3 or 4 months, I have entered words that I know are within certain codes, but search comes back with 0 entries.

For example, I just entered "navigable" and selected the Harbors and Navigation Code. Zip! Nothing!

Same for "survey" in the Business and Professions Code.

The site has become essentially useless.

Is it just me, or are others finding the same problem?

I have always found leginfo to be user surly.
I use it to look at code when I know where I'm looking, e.g. 8762, 66426, etc.

Justia works pretty well (usually) when doing a word or term search, but it only goes to 2011. It seems leginfo is still somewhat behind as well. Interestingly the Leginfo site notes "All California Codes have been updated to include the 2011 Statutes." but it shows the 2012 revision to 8762(b)(4). Go figure.

Maybe they believe as some on the forum have stated, that it is better to under-promise and over-deliver.

To answer your question, yes I have found the same problems.

Evan, et al,

Go to the leginfo homepage.

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/index.html

Select the link

"New web site for accessing California Legislative Information"

Then up in the blueish header bar select "California Law"

This will take you to the new search utility for the Ca codes.

The quick and dirty address is

http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml

Then select the "TEXT SEARCH" tab.
