Monumentation sufficient to be retraced.

Is it possible that the monumentation which was ignored might have an effect upon the location of the boundary? If that monumentation is along the boundary, there is a very good chance that it does.

So if that monumentation was ignored for the boundary survey depicted on the RS, did the surveyor fully resolve the boundary? IMO, the boundary may or may not be in the same location as the surveyor now shows it, but without considering ALL of the available evidence, the boundary is not fully resolved and it's not known whether the boundary shown is in the correct location or not.

Until the boundary is fully resolved, the question of sufficient monumentation is meaningless.

It sounds to me as if a lot of the monumentation in this scenario was placed from the moved monument, and some was placed from the monument in its correct location. Even those based upon the incorrect position have been there a while (more than 5 years) and presumably have been relied on.

Whether or not the current surveyor can go in and start fixing the section depends upon whether or not there was reliance on the various monuments, and whether or not the landowners want all their boundaries moved to meet the surveyors mathmatical sensibilities.

Either way, the ignored monuments are physical points in the ground and the landowners deserve to know where their line is relative to them.

relevant problems with the survey than whether or not there is sufficient monumentation. Some other surveyors have been in there using other monuments for the bust outs. These monuments should be located and referenced to the lines delineated on this "new" RS.

As far as you overstepping your bounds, I don't think so. If you don't like what you see, you should discuss it with the LS. If you guys can't come to an agreement on what should be done, then hopefully you can agree as to what type of note should appear on the map.

As to what type of note, or what it should say, I would have to see the map to help you out. Which way did you come in?
