Passing of Edison S. Ayer

Edison or "Ed" as he was refered, was a very knowledgable and patient surveyor, serving the Modesto and Stanislaus county areas.

Many people can credit their careers to the direction that Ed provided.
For me, Mr. Ayer, "fronted" the fees to be seated for the LSIT.

I promised to work over time to repay him. He stalled in taking the repayment, opting instead to ask "have the results come in ?"

When it was confirmed that I'd passed, he refused the repayment saying that the fact that I passed was repayment enough.
He encouraged me to continue studying for the "L.S."

Even as early as last year, I could call upon Ed to shed some light on a specific problem, or ask about a tendancy that a former Surveyor or Engineer may have had "back in the day"

Ed was always willing to chat about surveying only interrupting the conversation for a "tee" time.

While there are many other living "mentors" in the area (true for all of us)
I'm certain that others will agree that Ed Ayer lent a great contribution to the Survey community.

This is a shout out to a kind, thoughtful, knowledgable and VERY patient man, for whom I owe a great deal of credit to my own career.
