OK I am learning something new. Have used C&G systems office and field software for 20+ years, but now we have a TRimble S6 which only speaks to TDS. It is wonderful for data collection but lacking for start to finish 1 trip to the project site, which when the project is 2 hours away, it is nice to collect, calc, and monument in one trip. But now I need to slope stake and want to use the S6. Ihave created my Horiz and vert alingements but am hung up on creating the templetes. I do not see any way to create the temples except on the data collector. How do you folks do it? Ric don't you use C&G? Open to suggestion.

Thanks in advance

RAM,

No, I don't use C&G...heard it was good though. I used TDS years ago and don't plan on using it again. Used Carlson SurvCE from 1998-2007 and Topcon TopSurv since. They all have their pros and cons.

John's a good guy and if his stuff helps you out, that would be nice.

You may want to check out Microsurvey's Field Genius. It is well written, very well supported and should have no issue integrating with the S6.

See you soon and tell T hello for me.

RAM;

We tried to make the shift to MicroSurvey with the S6 about a year ago. They did not have the radio connectivity at that time. Have you thought about switching to Survey Controller. It might be the best bet for your setup. We have been using it up here steadily for 10 months and I have used it exclusively for around 6 years. Since it's Trimble's software, there are no connection problems.

I am using a TSC2 survey controller with TDS survey Pro, the issue is my office software will only directly transfer coords by an ASCI file. No way to directly transfer the road alingement or the x-section templates. I found away around the alingement but I am having to hand enter my templates in the TSC2. I was just looking for a short cut. If it gets too complex I will use RTK to stake the centerline and dig out the Rhoades Arc to slope stake with. But Now I am dating myself.

PS Scott in the last month I have been on the East side 3 times and it was absolutly rotten. HA HA

RAM;

Are you using TDS Link or Foresight? We have both still and will research here also.

I know what you mean about how rotten it gets. Last week I had to lay out a new pedestrian bridge crossing, on the Pacific Crest Trail,at Hat Creek. Dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Yes I hav Foresight DXM shich allows me to import a 3d polyline, but not a template.

We have been asked for 4 or 5 topos in the Teneya Lake Tuol. Meadow area by Oct 30, I may be out of direct communication, oh darn.
