There was a time when the welcome signs at the state lines said "we hope you enjoy your visit". Times have changed though. Last I heard, about 80% of the population of where I live originated from California. Californians no longer feel the need to sneak in under cover of darkness and swap out their license plates by morning!
And there are a lot of really good people who are Oregonians. I apologize for any mistreatment that your friends received.
