Online Training to Satisfy Part 107 sUAS Remote Pilot Renewal

Post by JoshPLS »

Hi All,

I am not sure how many here would be effected by this, but this has been a problem I have been dealing with during COVID-19 and thought I would share in case it helps anyone else out.

The FAA Part 107 sUAS Remote Pilot license does not technically expire, but requires a receny test be completed every 24 months at an FAA/PSI testing site and as you can imagine scheduling a test during COVID-19 is not possible. Previously the FAA response to this matter was to ground remote pilots from flying commercially until the testing centers reopen. This just changed.

Due to these extrodinary circumstances the FAA released an online training option to establish recency between April 2020 and June 2020. If you complete this recurrent online training you can extend your renewal for an additional 6 months!

This is great news for those like me who have been stuck in drone purgatory.

You can take the online training at www.faasafety.gov

Stay safe out there friends,
Josh
