Jas Arnold Final Point

Post by mpallamary »

Happy holidays to everyone,

I wanted to share my article about the Final Point ceremony for Jas Arnold. He was one of the finest men I met. He made many contributions to CLSA. As I think of him I am reminded: every day is a gift.

Very nice article, thanks for posting it. I bet he'd be thrilled to have people using that for control.

It is located at a wonderful spot even if you are not a surveyor. From there you can see for miles in every direction.

Michael,

Your timing couldn't be more apropos . . . as I was looking at Jas' thank you card moments ago. Seeing his smile also brought a smile to my face.

For those of us that knew Jas - we are fortunate souls.

And Lisa - you are as admired as Jas. (Please raise a glass to him and yourself this holiday season from all of us.)

Thanks for the Jas-reminder, Michael.

And thanks be to all that were involved with this "passive" monument!

Phil - Sonoma

Paul Goebel with the San Diego Chapter took some great pictures of the Final Point ceremony for Jas Arnold. They are in the chapter newsletter. Thank you once again, for everyone who attended.

I also wanted to thank Ian Wilson for his wonderful letter as well as Curt Sumner for his thoughts.

As the holidays approach and we pause to think of family and loved ones, I remain grateful for all my blessings. Every day is a gift.

Happy holidays to all.

Thank you to the San Diego Chapter of CLSA and all who helped make the event possible.

Thank you to Michael Pallamary for writing about the event in his column too.

Those that knew Jas, know the strength of his character and humanity. Jas was always willing to help, never complained about his lot in life, was intellectually curious, and really better than any superlative could describe.

Jas did some teaching during his days at CSUF, taught photogrammetry at the San Diego Chapter LS review course for many years.

I wish more of the next generation of Surveyors could meet him. He was a fine example for us all.
