Dane,
If my memory serves me the SMA for those years fell under the LS Act. The members only section does have a copy of various LS Acts that covers a couple of the years you ask about.

Thanks William Magee, as far as I know we have had a subdivision map act since 1893.

Yes, but the validity of maps prior to 1926 is questionable if the parcels were never sold separately. The following cases are very pertinent:
Abernathy v Co of Solano
Gardner v Co of Sonoma
Witt Home Ranch v Co of Sonoma

I don't know how to find a copy of the exact code for those time periods, but an article from California Surveyor by Anne Hoppe back in Winter 2011 summarized the key years where significant changes occurred in the map act laws.

In 1943, the SMA was codified into the Business and Professions Code. You can read the entire version of the SMA at that time at this link: http://clerk.assembly.ca.gov/sites/cler ... pdf#page=2
starting on page 758

No significant changes were noted in the article until 1965 when parcel maps came about. Parcel maps weren't mandated by the State at that time, but local agencies could now require filing of parcel maps. You can read that amendment at this link:
http://clerk.assembly.ca.gov/sites/cler ... PDF#page=3
starting on page 1168

You can poke around this website if you want to try to find more: http://clerk.assembly.ca.gov/archive-li ... e=statutes
