Some history on monument preservation

Post by mpallamary »

In the way of some background, people often ask about some of the opinions and letters the BORPELS issues. One of the ones that has survived is the 1985 letter advising cities and government agencies to protect monuments. I worked with the Board in developing that policy and letter after having problems in San Diego and Coronado. With regards to Coronado, the Board thankfully took strong action as they did with the City of San Diego. That was 31 years ago. History is important so we don't repeat it.
