"For Condominium Purposes"
I always see "For Condominium Purposes" on subdivision maps, but is it really required to state that? I am looking at a map right now where some of the lots are single-family, but others are being created for future condominiums. I am wondering if we need to have the lots that are being created for condominium purposes specifically denoted on the map. The Condo Plans will not be recorded concurrently with the map.

Re: "For Condominium Purposes"
"For Condominium Purposes" is required in order to process the Condo Plans (concurrently or later) by reference to the final map. If only some of the lots are for condo purposes, it is proper to refer to those lots on the map sheet(s) or by note in order to differentiate them from single family lots.
The tentative map approval for those purposes provides the authority to proceed with the provisions of SMA section 66427, and the similar ones in the Civil Code relating to condominium plans.

Re: "For Condominium Purposes"
Thanks, Warren. Do you happen to know what code section requires it to be stated on a map?

Re: "For Condominium Purposes"
Typically, a local agency will have this requirement as part of its Development Code relating to tentative and final maps.
Civil Code sections 4285(a), 6542(b), and 6624(a) refer to final maps showing the boundary of condominium ownership, monumenting of same, along with the additional requirements for condominium plans. This would be the genesis of captioning, or otherwise distinguishing those lots "For Condominium Purposes" in the application for tentative map approval, and the approval and filing of the final map.
