The City Surveyor is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality of the City's survey functions as they relate to design and construction of public works projects. This is a professional-level class in the professional engineering series requiring licensing. Positions in this class establish work priorities for the survey section and assure that the section stays current with industry standards and trends. Incumbents in the City Surveyor class are licensed Land Surveyors in responsible charge of survey activities in the department. Incumbents work with other engineering staff to update and improve the accuracy and efficiency of interrelated engineering systems, processes and procedures and are expected to perform the more complex assignments with a high degree of independence.
