People are busy

Post by Dave Karoly, PLS »

Usually in my travels I see a survey crew on every fifth trip.

I wave and they look at me funny, "why are the fire fighters waiving at me?"

Today I saw three survey crews. One in Clear Lake Oaks on the State highway (private) with a manual Topcon TS. One in Citrus Heights with a manual Nikon TS and one in the Arden area with a Trimble robot (looks like an S6 but could be an S8 or VX). Maybe it's good news or maybe the flurry of activity before the next crash.

The public sees us as fire...had to call for help on the radio for a disabled RV blocking a lane on Monday then direct traffic until CHP and the tow got there on a winding two lane highway. That took a while. No cell service.

I believe the economic forecasters are saying the economy is looking good for at least 5 or 10 years, so don't expect a slow down anytime soon.

Dear god,
If it slows down again this soon, there is no tomorrow. Being a surveyor, if is just now getting good in the private sector. That should mean about 3-5 good years minimum. Seems to be the norm. Once we slow, its still about 2 years before the economy catches up(slows). If you have surveyor friends in the private sector, use them. They are economic barometers. Economy generally lags 2 years behind the private sector surveyors. If your friends tell you it is slow industry wide, sell your house and get a rental .

A national company I worked for did a economic study of past highs and lows. It showed that the highs and lows were 8-10 years apart but more importantly each one was more sever than the previous one.

"There isn't enough currency in circulation to pay off the National Debt. It is physically impossible to pay off the national debt even if we wanted to because creating money creates more debt."

And that right there shows how bad our government manages itself.

Our imports exceed our exports making us a debtor nation. As long as we allow this to happen, govt having forced mfg and production businesses to go offshore to escape high taxes, labor laws and EPA rules, without a tariff for bringing the goods in has made us this debtor nation. Now the only way to fix that is to ban imports of anything that can be made or sourced here forcing the mfg and production to return to the USA.
Defund govt
To fully fund govt first the national debt would have to be paid. The US Govt is $18 TRILLION in debt, using 350 million people in the USA it would require $51,000 from every man, woman and child to pay it off. And that's just the Federal debt. Did you write your check yet?

Pull a Federal Reserve Note out of your wallet.

Look at it.

You are looking at a DEBT INSTRUMENT.

The Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE bank.

Get it yet?

Make more money, make more debt. It's impossible to catch up.

You see it as a problem of Governmental incompetence.

I don't see the problem like that. The political system is owned and run by INTERESTS. These INTERESTS, the oligarchy, set things up to their advantage. They own 99% of the news media; they use the news media to keep us pointing fingers at each other. Divide and conquer, it works wonderfully well, obviously.

So fully funding the government is fully funding
the special interests you talk about.

Cuts can be a good thing, it forces re-evaluation, most in the private
sector took this brunt with a grain of salt in 2008 and some of us survived.

Not to get completely off topic, but some amount of debt it a good thing. Considering our credit rating and the interest rates at which we can borrow (being the world's reserve currency holder and our history of paying our debt when it's due helps), the key is to be growing more as an economy than the debt increase. If you can borrow the money of others to fuel economic growth at a pace faster than you would be able to self-funding, there's not a problem.

I'm not saying that's the current situation necessarily, but it's good to keep in mind.

A pact was make in 1945 to make the US dollar the trade currency of the world as such it keeps the US dollar afloat. China is petitioning the IMF to have the US dollar replaced by the Chinese Yuan. If they succeed we are in big trouble.
Most of the countries we have been invading were either not trading in the Us dollar or planning to quit receiving the US dollar as payment for trade goods.
The Federal Reserve Bank is not owned by the US govt and we borrow from it.

The wealthiest 0.01% are the INTERESTS that matter.

Everyone else gets the table scraps.

The monetary system we have was developed during the age of Discovery because they didn't have sufficient gold to keep growth and development and colonization running. It is based on the assumption of perpetual economic growth. It doesn't matter if you go into debt because there will always be growth to finance the growth. The problem is our planet is finite and we are beginning to run up against its limits of capacity. No amount of denial will stop it from happening.

The debt is not real anyway, if human civilization collapses tomorrow the debt will evaporate at that instant. The toxic waste we leave behind won't go away so easily, though. If the American Empire collapses (like the Romans did and they lasted far longer than we have) then the National Debt will disappear because there will no longer be that institution to owe it.

To quote Dennis Miller "who do we owe this money to anyway. Fk'm. What are they gonna do if we don't pay them".

Well we are not paying them and China is making waves about it. The best part would be if China quit sending their junk here.

End of today's econ lesson. :)
