Use of graphic scale on maps

I have checked recent recorded maps in Santa Clara County, the use of graphic scale seems to be inconsistent. Do we really need it, considering the mandatory text style scale?

I am a proponent of using bar scales. No matter how much the map is reduced or enlarged, they are still scalable/correct. If an original map simply states Scale: 1"=40' that is only true at that image size.

Yes. We need them. How else would all those folks who print PDF files "to fit" know that we have drafted the mail at the "wrong scale"?

A bar scale is an easy way to reduce scaling misunderstandings. I can't think of a good reason not to use one.

are nice. especially in this day and age of manipulating drawings. Show them, you will be glad you did.
