Vintage Instrument

Post by Rich James »

I was given a vintage Tamaya instrument by a family member and am trying to find additional information on it. From what I can tell it looks like a wye level crossed with a transit. The sight glass can be mounted in two positions. When the sight glass locked in one position it works like a level capable of measuring horizontal angles. The sight glass can be removed and rotated 90 degrees allowing the operator to measure horizontal and vertical angles. I have attached a picture of the instrument in each position. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting instrument. My guess it was not intended for precision in the horizontal plane but for rather higher quality vertical.
Could you post a few more pictures?

Perhaps if you contact the maker/distributor you can get some more info: http://www.alibaba.com/member/jp106239631.html

Yes, I would love to have it in my collection of odds and ends! send an email or private message if you want to sell. Peter
