Kenny is a long-time family friend who lives in Seaside. He finsished high school not long ago. Kenny is having a real struggle finding employment in this job market. I've encouraged Kenny, who has excellent math skills, to consider finding some volunteer work in land surveying/GIS. I told him this is a way to gain some practical skills and work experience for his resume, and to possibly start a career in land surveying. (He has a strong interest in attending college when his financial situation allows it.)
I'm going to start working with him one (1) weekend a month on some basic surveying and GIS skills. I could get him started with some volunteer work for my own company, but the distance adds an extra layer of complexity to this.
I'd like to know if there is a land surveying company or public agency in the Monterey Bay area that might be interested in having this Kenny do some volunteer work. I can help coordinate and assist with his volunteer assignments.
If you would be interested in helping introduce Kenny to land surveying through an unpaid internship or volunteer assignment, or you know an organization that might be, please contact me. (sunburned.surveyor@gmail.com)
Thanks.

Lynn Kovatch works out of Salinas. You might start there. At the very least, she would have a good idea of the local firms in the area and who might need help.
