Leica batteries

Post by MikeTurnrose »

I'm trying to find genuine Leica GEB 121 batteries. I don't want to buy the compatibles because I've tried those and they don't last very long at all. Are there any other vendors besides going through the local Leica dealer or EBay? Thanks.

Mike - The short answer is no, according to Leica Atlanta a few years back. Leica has a 3rd party manufacture the batteries to a "higher standard than normal" (unsure of true meaning). Leica tests each battery before applying their label. If memory serves me, about 30% fail and are sent back.

I bought one off-the-shelf replacement for a GEB 121. It saved 30% in purchase, lasted 1/2 as long - bad deal.

I get them from a Leica dealer. I agree that the compatible brands don't work as well as the real thing.

Who is your Leica dealer and approximately how much were they last time you purchased? Thanks.

I didn't see any new messages in my box here. Can you send me an e-mail to mikels7454@verizon.net? thanks.
