FCC narrowbanding back in the news

The FCC Part 90 regulation requiring "narrowbanding" of RTK radios is in the news again. The requirement starts January of 2013.

I've been hearing about this for some time (off and on) but I don't get the impression people believe it's actually going to happen or that they will enforce it. Any thoughts on that?

For our users it's really a non-issue, as all our radios can easily be set to 12.5 kHz channel spacing by the user.

I never seen it mentioned, but I suppose people who are still transmitting/receiving RTCM 2.3 RTK corrections via UHF will be forced to select a "leaner" option such as RTCM 3 or CMR, especially if they are using GLONASS corrections, as their bandwidth is getting chopped in half.

This will happen, from what I'm reading on the FCC website. They mention enforcement actions more than once, and have issued a deadline for the manufacture of wide band (25 kHz) radios.

I'm trying to figure out if my Pacific Crest radios can be modified now.
