TGO and Windows 7

Is anyone running Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) under WIndows 7?

I seem to be having no end of trouble since the "upgrade" to Windows 7.

May Mr. Gates spend eternity watching his bloody spinning stuff!

Ian,

Try running it under Administrator or Compatiability mode. If that doesn't work, try reinstall TGO using those options.

Ian,
My understanding is that with the release of Windows 7, Trimble would no longer support dated software like TGO. I guess they were going to release a patch to be able to run TGO on Windows 7 but not sure if that ever happened and haven't seen it on their support download website. We've got a few machine around here that we keep around so that we can still use software like TGO and even better GPSurvey.

I think their new software is called Trimble Data Center or something like that.

Ian,

I got it to install on a Windows 7 - 32-bit system using the Windows XP install. It will not work on a 64-bit system. So if you upgraded to a new computer it's most likely a 64-bit.

Welcome back to "Sneaker Net"....but with Thumb Drives instead of 8" floppy disks...

Anyone remember those? - They were the hot item that replaced the 10" IMSAI Disks...

Yes that is also true. Most of our computers were switched out to 64 bit before we figured this out. We have one 32 bit machine to run TGO on until we get the new software.

It would probably run under "Windows XP mode"

which is an actual copy of XP 32 bit running on virtual pc. It takes a minute to start up the first time, but then isn't too shabby.

48. HP still is king. Too bad HP quit on the 48. I still use only 48 w/TDS. I have not seen anything it won't do during conventional survey work. NO $2000 DC
4 me. I'll keep my 48. Till it craps out again. Then buy another on E-Bay
