The State of NGS meeting April 1st

Post by Steve Martin »

The League of California Surveying Organizations is sponsoring the annual State of NGS meeting at the Riverside County Flood Control & Water Conservation District office in Riverside, April 1st.

It is usually a good meeting and it looks like they have a good agenda.

Nor Cal GPS Users Group

Post by Steve Martin »

For those who missed Marti Ikehara’s new datum presentation at the conference, this meeting will provide a good overview of NGS’s 10 year plan and status.

As an aside:

There was some good information disseminated at the Nor Cal GPS Users Group Friday. We received a short briefing from the GPS Program Office and the MITRE corporation on the satellite generated multi-path from the new SVN49 (PRN01). This satellite was retrofitted prior to launch to be able to broadcast the new L5 signal and the way it was modified created a cross channel echo (20 nanoseconds). We expect to hear more on the various options for implementation of this satellite (currently set to un-healthy) into the GPS constellation at the next NorCalGPS Users Group meeting.

The annual State of NGS meeting in Riverside is a good place to get updates on issues related to Geodetic survey issues. I recommend it and I hope to see you there.

Driving to Riverside

Post by Steve Martin »

Nick,

I'll be driving down too, but I am going to spend the weekend in SoCal and take my time driving back. I probably break up the drive down too by staying in Ventura and then driving in first thing in the morning. Otherwise, it is a long drive.
