First of all, good luck to you David.
I think you may have a hard time finding a company in CA that would sponsor you. As you may or may not know, the economy has slowed down here in the States and in effect, many companies, especially those involved in Land Development for Housing have laid off a considerable amount of workers (field and office). It's not real hard for a company looking for a tech to find a qualified one. You would probably need to bring something else to the table, like clients or a specialty of some sort, for a company to put up the money and time to bring you across the Pacific. Just my $0.02.
I'm not trying to be a downer here, just being a little realistic. The best thing that you could do, though, is just send out the resume and post it here and maybe something will come of it. Just because I doubt it, doesn't mean that I'm not wrong either. Keep your eyes and ears open for when the economy turns around here and that may be the time that you'll find something.
Greetings from Australia!

Field Supervisor processes
data or oversees the mapping to assure an accurate representation of field conditions. I've seen to many mistakes by field and office people when they no one has checked it. Typically, field supe is the rod person making the decisions on what needs to be picked up and how it should be coded. Field Supe needs to know how the tools work and be able to use them.

I am in the Southern California area. I am swamped with work and can not find enough "qualified" people to get to it all. I am hurting for people. Right now I am having to resort to useing Sub-Contractors just to meet deadlines and this week I started turning away work.
If you are interested in So-Cal send me your resume and tell me what you know about "what our company needs to do" for sponsor. I am not fimilar with the sponsorship, but I can check into it.
Thanks,
