maps of private land grant cases of California

Post by bwatkins »

For general information:
Link to various plats and surveys of California Ranchos used in U.S. District Court land cases. This is a nice site for anyone who has an interest in the old Ranchos.

Mi espanol es no muy bien, but I think that "Rancho Los Putos" contains a less than polite word. Sounds to me like a name for a rural bordello.

Thanks for the link bwatkins,

These Mexican California disenos are facinating. It is interesting to note the differences between what was conveyed and or claimed in these disenos and what was finally patened by the US government.

"Rancho Los Putos" covers area now occupied by Vacaville. It was originally granted to the "Vaca" family.

Apparently the government du jour did not take too kindly to the Vaca brothers. Oddly enough, the brothers still took the land.

Evan, this particular bordello isnt really staffed by women.
