Hi all,

I'm attempting to re trace a mineral survey. Does anyone know what the abbreviations shown on the map mean? The term "Post P.S. 13-97, i'd with loc. cor. appears at most corners. I think it means a post, corner number, identical with location or local corner. A previous surveyor decided it meant location corner and to him that meant an aliquot part corner. Some of the corners with that description are aliquot parts and some are clearly not. I feel like it means they found local corners and held them. But, I'm not sure so that's my question. After re reading the field notes, the call states: identical with location corner. What does that mean?
It appears that this survey was an original survey based on a previously described mine claim and it's purpose was to better refine the boundaries. So there may have been corners marked by the mine owners for the surveyors to find.

I just took a quick glance of the plat and didn't dive too deep, yes the monument appears to be a post and then corners numbered in order with initials referencing the mine name and year surveyed. "Beginning, Post, P.S. 1-97"; "Post, P.S. 2-97 id with Loc. Cor"... so corner numbers clockwise, P.S. for Pollard Smith, and Surveyed July 1897.
Claim location corners are not necessarily the exterior corners, sometimes they're along the vein, sometimes it's a more convenient physical location to set a location monument, sometimes set mathematically to have all claims line up without gaps or overlaps.
