Ahhhhh when college was affordable!

Our 1973 president, Eugene Lockton, (LS 2535), paid off his student loan to Leland Stanford University . . . all of $ 40 plus interest!
(While living at 170 Second Street, SF)

For comparison, circa 1999 my college tuition was roughly $1300 a quarter at UC Davis. $40 in 1921 money adjusted for inflation is roughly $380 in 1999 money. I don't think my education was 3.5 times better than his :)

For another data point, my son's tuition at UC San Diego from 2016-2020 was about $5,400 per quarter.
