I am looking at a USGS historical topo map dated 1969 and it shows no section lines in the township of interest. If I look at one from 1940 or previous, it shows the section lines. Have any of you ever seen this situation? Why would they remove the section lines? Remember, these are all paper maps.

Are they protracted lines into a Rancho?

No, they are not. It was surveyed by the GLO in 1875. Monuments were set. Some show on the Quad from 1921.
