Anyone on here have an opinion on these two
Schonstedt GA-52Cx Magnetic Locator
Or Schonstedt Spot.
Per the literature they appear to be very similar as to what they find.

Looks like the only difference is which you prefer to hold and the weight, since Spot is considered "ultralight weight".

I use the Maggie which has a nice pistol grip. I never liked the GA-52Cx. Spot looks nice and lightweight but I bet I'd drop it more often.

I’ve used all three mostly the GA-52 varieties. I wouldn’t buy a spot it is too quiet and no headphones or display. You also don’t have the same control over sensitivity as the GA-52 (I think it has 5 settings but it’s not the same feeling, don’t know how to explain it better). The maggie has the same problem (hi med low sensitivity) but it has a display.

If you have to work near traffic or construction equipment then the spot probably won’t get you there. If you’re accustomed to the GA-52 as most of us are then I suggest that you pay the extra $100 and go for old faithful

Thanks Dave, very informative. I appreciate the info. We are almost always using them in traffic. Our old GA52 is 25 years old and the reviews I've seen on rebuilds I think buying a new one is a better way to go.
