A SURVEYOR’S CHRISTMAS
Twas the night before Christmas and as I grow old,
New technology and ideas will start to unfold;
Times are a changin, and we can move on,
Or we can retire on the Golden Pond;
I reflect back on the years that I've had,
And some of these changes, make me quite sad;
It has been said that field books are a thing of the past,
And all we need now is electronic collection, and I am aghast;
The camaraderie seems to be gone on the survey crew,
and it seems as though the paycheck is all why they do;
I stress the importance of fundamentals to all who will listen,
but I see in their eyes a glaze and a glisten;
But I know what I preach is not wrong, but tis right,
So Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
