Old Topcon 820A robotics

Greetings,

I acquired an old robotic topcon recently. The instrument would track just fine, but not remotely set zero on the back site. I was able to manually set the zero on a known backsite point, then take shots very well. I'd also take a shot on the backsite point in case the points needed to be rotated.

The Issue came up suddenly when the unit stopped tracking me and was absolutely frozen both horizontally and vertically. I changed batteries believing a low battery to be the case. The unit would attempt the auto check, but was still frozen.

Has anyone ever had this issue ?

Also, to replace the instrument back into its case, I carefully rotated it to align the white dots then put it away. The manual says nothing about rebooting the unit. It appears as if the unit is locked in a tracking command and the motor is engaged.

HELP !!!

Thank you "Good"

Ok,

Seeing NO response, I assume I've purchased a white elephant. I'll send the machine to a repair service and hope for the best.

Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen.
