VOLUNTARY SURRENDER OF LICENSE

When you look up a licensed professional and see this "VOLUNTARY SURRENDER OF LICENSE" why isn't the reason given?
If the licensee just moved and decided they didn't want to keep the license that could be stated. If it had to do with substandard work or not following the rules that could be important to those who follow their footsteps.

On that (former) licensee's info page, there should be a link to a Final Order of Discipline, which should also be able to be found by navigating through the enforcement pages.

Unfortunately the enforcement page is not currently up to date, due to budgetary constraints.

There are a number of reasons this information may be withheld. Sometimes it is because of a settlement with the board or in connection with some other legal proceedings. There are times when a person is deemed or declared incompetent or it can be because of conventional health conditions. There are instances when privacy is a matter. That being said, the Board should offer a form wherein the practitioner or his/her family can make a statement or do something with his/her records. Here in San Diego, we developed a program where surveyors could forward or donate his/her records to the County Surveyor but our County Surveyor will not accept these private records any more citing financial reasons. Your concerns are very important and valid. Thank you for raising them.

Dennis,
How do you know this to be true?

Whether it's true or not I can't say, but the BPELSG Disciplinary Actions page (
http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/consumers/disc_a_l.shtml) features this note:
NOTE: Due to budgetary constraints, the Board is unable to timely update this page with information regarding current actions.

Jim Frame:
Fair enough. If I read it correctly, they have had "budget constraints" since 2007? 8 years. In reading their financials it doesn't appear as though they're going broke. Maybe it is a matter of priorities?

Those are the Summary pages. You can find the Final Disciplinary Decisions here:
http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/consumers/acc_disc_list.shtml
It contains cases decided from late 2006 to mid-2014.

Wow. There are a lot more surveyors who get their upper body parts in the wringer than I thought.

That Disciplinary list is over 2-1/2 years behind. That is a rather large backlog.
