Just thought I would share this monument photo. Set in 1955...the tag is in great condition for a monument that old, IMO. There are older ones out there, obviously, but I was impressed at how this one looked over others that I've seen.

Is that a brass washer or some other type of metal? I can't tell from the picture. But yes, that does look really good for 1955.

It is hard to tell. I believe it was just a steel washer or something. I don't think it was brass because of the color.

It was my crew that sent the pic in so I wasn't there to see it myself unfortunately.

This one was set in 1946, along with 7 others just like it, that we found. All of them set in "Concrete monuments set 12" below original ground".

Lot's of corner records in the neighborhood with no original monuments found, but at least they were able to use monuments not of any record to monument lots! **sarcasm**

Humblebrag of mine is this mid 1930s monument we found in a planter. Thankfully the owner did not mind the 1'+ hole we had to make.

Therefore, I rejected it as not original, held curb splits, and called it off 0.12'x0.02'.

That's an irresponsible solution. You should have taken a sledgehammer and bashed it over until it fit the curb splits.

I was thinking of setting a c-nail with flagging at the calc'd location, but that ain't such a bad idea.
