Can anybody fill me in on how to do map research in Contra Costa County?

In my experience they do not have anything on-line, or at least I have not found any links to maps on line.. I go to the desk at public works. They are very helpful. You used to be able to copies free if printed on 11x17.

Get some local surveyors to help you out. They can help with the closet skeletons. Hawkins in Vacaville has worked in that area since the 90s and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Research from afar is not that bad in Contra Costa County, but you first have to set up an account, and send in a deposit for maps.
After that you can request the APN map with Subd. Maps, Corner Records and ROS referenced. Then a simple email will get you in return, a copy of the requested documents.
