If they charge for parking you may want to add "bring money for parking". Glad I arrived early when I took the old exam, had to run to the ATM. Doh!

My tips would be:

If they still give the exam at the CalExpo grounds in Sacramento in April, layer your clothes. When I took the exam in '07 the room felt like it never got over 50°F....sitting on a cold steel folding chair....with a stiff back....

The "Test Plan", published here http://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/ls_test_plan.pdf, is your friend. Review how the subjects are weighted and plan your study time accordingly. Why waste 40 hours of study time on State Planes transformations when it's worth about 5 points on the exam? Same with photogrametry calcs. Better to spend your time on mapping, research and field work. That's where the points are.
