Mon. well costs

I'm estimating a small minor subdivision and the City may require a mon. box to be set in the new street. What is the going rate for a contractor to put one of those in? Thanks.

We had four set recently in Oceanside and the cost was about $600 each, including materials. Don't forget the cost of any permits.

My information is a little stale -- it's from a project I did in 2007 -- but the price I paid was $350 per. This was for about 25 sites on county roads that were each a mile or so apart, so your mob/demob costs might be lower due to proximity, reduced traffic control requirements, and a bad economy.
P.S. My contractor included all permitting costs in his fee. I didn't have to do anything in that regard.

Also, don't forget to call Digalert, or whatever your underground utility alerting system is. Paul's cost seems about right for the installation of the well.

If the road is open to traffic, I don't have currant costs, but a few years ago just setting up traffic control was ~$600.
And in addition to permits you may need to submit a traffic control plan signed by a engineer.
And usually the work is time constrained to between 9am and 3pm.
All of the above is needed just to access a monitoring well in the street.
Traffic control is not an issue

There is one company in the Bay area that installs monuments that I know of. They do give a fixed per unit cost estimate, however the price varied dramatically with the quantity you order. There is a price break for 2 monuments, 3-5 monuments, 6-10 monuments. The price for 11 to 15 monuments is a quarter of the single monument unit price. It gets even lower for 16 or more. Some Cities specify some kind of super-Bernsten Monument and there is an additional unit charge for those.
