Map Checking - Reading monument descriptions

So I recently received a first check redline from a county on one of my RS's.
A little history - I am surveying Lot 1 of an old subdivision and during the course of my survey discovered another surveyor was concurrently surveying an adjoining lot, Lot 13 of an adjoinging old subdivision.
There are a couple of untagged monuments that I found. My notes say, "Found X" IP, no tag, no ref. Accepted as XX Corner of Lot 1. Set Nail and Tag LS 7809."
The adjoining RS by the other LS for those same monuments, which is recording this week says: "Found X" IP w/ Nail and Tag LS 7809, No Ref.", which I have no problem with because it's true, my RS has not recorded and his field work finished after I finished mine. My RS is in the process.
The redlines on my map though really chap my hide - they circle my notes where it says "no tag" and says "There are discrepencies between your map and this adjoining map with the descriptions of the monuments ????" in huge red letters.
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
In my response letter back to the map checker: "If you would read the full note for each monument marked you would see that my description indicates the setting of a tag as described on the adjoining RS".
The check letter was signed by an LS, but I don't think the map was actually checked by one, unless the checker commonly goes by a nickname.
