I finally got around to throwing up a web page on a little project I've been thinking about for a long time. The project will seek to capture some of the very valuable knowledge and experience of land surveyors that are concluding their career or near the conclusion of their career. I will be working on this project for land surveyors that work in my part of California (Central Valley and Sierra Nevada Foothills). If the project is successful, I hope others may launch similar efforts in their parts of California.

Of course, if you have any questions about the project, please let me know. I look forward to learning more about my own mentors in the surveying profession, and to learning more about many of you that work in my area. I hope this project will be a benefit to many future generations of land surveyors.

This project is just starting, so I'm sure edits will be needed to the web page and the interview questions as I get feedback from participants.

Great idea. And a very noble effort on your part.

Information on how and where the old timers worked can be very enlightening when you try to retrace their work.

Curt Brown wrote a book (with Mike P.) on the History of San Diego Land Survey Experiences.

A few word in a book or a blog can save the next guy a lot of heartache and grief.
