It relates to the consequences of pushing for an expected overall outcome, and having elements at the margins reacting in adverse ways - much as you had described.

Good thing that robot doesn't have a mind, since AI takes so much computing power it would have to be remote controlled

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeepSeek

But how would robots make more robots without humans help?

https://www.fanucamerica.com/solutions/ ... ine-robots

Don't worry about it, how could humans make such a dumb decision as to allow a bad AI out of the box?

https://foresight.org/yet-more-thoughts ... ty-summit/

I know, good humans will make sure it doesn't escape....

Cough Covid Cough Wuhan Cough

I do not think we will be able to control the future of (real) AI in any coherent responsible fashion. My HOPE is it will be similar to what is described in the book Accelerando by Charles Stross. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerando Published in 2005 BTW, and still pretty good. Kinda like Snow Crash 2.0

A distinction should be made between a singularity type AI and what is meant when "AI" is added to the outside of a box for marketing purposes. I am not too worried about cardboard box "AI", but I am quite worried/resigned when it comes to the looming singularity type AI. When it comes to how to deal with the singularity, my current personal solution is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Strangelove + https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Look_Up

Amazon doesn't need your $20. Carry on.

PS Warren, I looked it up, correct, the "Thinking at the Margins" chapter is applicable - I recommend the balance of the book to anyone that does not have an MBA and the complete understanding of all that exist.

Thanks for the book recommendation Dave.

Back when I was in school I saw an MBA advertised in the classified section in the back of a Rolling Stone Magazine. I couldn't afford the stamp to send in for the materials. I instead went for my PHD until I learned it meant post hole digger. Thus settled for PLS.

Texas filed the Hines petition. It’s good. It sounds like my outrage earlier. Just…..professional. I’m interested to see if they deny ours Monday and just take Hines or if they consolidate all 3. They all roughly ask the same questions.

I really do enjoy how you all make fun of my accomplishments. Then try to "teach" me from your vast experiences, trying to indoctrinate me into what I consider over a decade of decisions that have been tanking our profession. Then we get hundreds of thousands of views on this somehow where are you what? Showing me who is boss or something? Like you know, if this SCOTUS petition is granted, we all lose, right? And I will be around a lot longer than you will be to write the history books after you are gone for who gets the blame in that scenario. Just food for thought. Because I and a few others like me will have the last laugh about everyone's legacy here.

Anyway, Hines's opposition has been filed. It's basically asking for the court to grant cert. They started to stop rescheduling the conference on Crownholm back in early March. My guess is waiting for this petition. Both Crownholm and 360 Drone started showing up on the real SCOTUS blogs that track Supreme Court actions. You all need to get prepared for them to hear the case. If it happens, it will happen next term. You'll have time, but you need to get your shit together and get a good defense going.

I do not know everything, the one thing I have learned is that there is always someone smarter than you out there, but after all that work to get more initials behind my name than actual letters in my name, I really hope I know something. Fifteen professional level exams and never failed once. You might want to listen to me when I speak up on a public forum like this and take a position on an issue. Just saying. I know when I take a position on an issue it will follow me in the future and its not done lightly. I'm literally doing it because our interests are aligned and you don't seem to want to fight. But with all those initials above, I really think I have other options if one of my licenses falls though the cracks, don't you? I'm well diversified. I can pretty much do any career I want to do. Like I have seen the writing on the wall, pretty much left the profession to look out for myself and I'm still here trying to give you the tools to save yourselves. Because I still benefit if you are actually able to save yourselves. And you respond by laughing at me and digging your heels into your failing logic that is killing the profession? Its just nuts. It really is.

If there are bots viewing this, its not me. IDK how this got so many views without bots. But its not me. If it got so many views because you all enjoy ganging up on young people, that just says so much, doesn't it?
