As Jeff Steffan pointed out, there are 58 counties and 482 incorporated cities in California as of last count. Is suspect there are more than 540 ways to adjust lot lines or merge lots. Some have very distinct and separate procedures; some do not. I cannot remember a single case where the local agency staff were not willing to work with me to get the job done and help me conform to their methods. In a few cases without solid procedures, the staff has had me help them! Additionally, I cannot remember a case where the client took me to task because I used a Lot Line Adjustment to merge parcels when that was the method used locally.

Are all agency staffers miserable people to work with? No! And I'll be the first to admit that...I know it's going to sound crazy, but...every once in awhile...very rare, mind you...I can bit a bit less than incredibly chipper and easy to work with. I know. I know. Crazy, but it has happened.
