Caltrans "Highway Maps"

I usually get CALTRANS maps at the local CALTRANS district office as I have had similar trouble in other counties getting copies of the maps.

Not sure why Humboldt, or any other County would refuse to provide copies? Check with your Chapter Rep to get the link to Caltrans records contact information from the Caltrans liaison report within the last CLSA Board meeting agenda. You may be able to get scanned images e-mailed to you, or data-sets on CD or DVD...

County Recorders might refuse to give copies because the drawings are larger than their copiers can handle, or because the only copies they have are in the counter books and in such poor shape that taking them out of the books and running them through the copier risks too much damage, or it's just too much of a PITA for them.

El Dorado County's Recorder has a couple of books of CT maps but doesn't provide copies. However, the Surveyor's office also has many CT Maps and will provide copies, as they do have a copier to handle that size dwg, and their copies are in better shape.

In LA, usually the State Highway Map Book maps are some relinquishment maps. I also usually try to get them from the source.
